Recalled Senate President Offered County Job
Former Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce has been offered a job with the Maricopa County Treasurer's office.
Pearce said he's been offered a job running the treasurer's technical services division and overseeing human resources, legislative outreach, budget and senior citizen outreach. He said he's not sure if he'll take the position.
Treasurer Charles Hoskins wasn't immediately available to comment to The Associated Press on Monday. But Hoskins confirmed to The Arizona Republic he offered Pearce the $85,000-a-year job.
Pearce became the first Arizona legislator ever recalled when he was ousted in 2011. The recall came after the Republican sponsored Senate Bill 1070 and other measures cracking down on illegal immigration.
Pearce previously ran the state Motor Vehicle Division and was a chief deputy Maricopa County sheriff.
