Senator Jeff Flake is not surprised poll names him unpopular

Senator Jeff Flake said he is not surprised a poll out this week called him one of the most unpopular senators in the United States. A Public Policy Polling survey shows a big drop in support because of Flake’s recent vote against universal background checks for gun purchases.

"Breaking news, 'Democrat-leaning firms say Republican is unpopular.' Everyone needs to take that for what it is, but I have no doubt that when a vote we cast is cast as Jeff Flake voting against background checks, then yeah, people are going to be upset," Flake said.

Flake says he is in favor of background checks, just not ones that included checks on private gun sales.

Fifty-two percent of voters in the poll say they are less likely to support Flake in a future election
