Heavy Rain Floods 30 Homes In Flagstaff

July 09, 2014

Heavy rain flooded 30 homes in east Flagstaff, displacing nine families.

The National Weather Service in Bellemont west of Flagstaff reported up to 2 inches of rain and quarter-inch hail late Tuesday. The Arizona Daily Sun reports that some streets were impassable because of debris.

City crews used sledgehammers to knock holes in a brick wall to release water in an adjacent drainage.

The Fire Department sent crews from all seven fire stations to work the flooding and recalled off-duty firefighters to respond to other emergency calls.
