National Park service personnel have found a body in the Colorado River within the Grand Canyon. They believe the deceased was a river guide who went missing more than a week ago.

Park officials located the body earlier this week at River Mile 139, about two miles downstream from where Joshua Tourjee was last seen.

A park press release said personnel recovered the body Wednesday, transferring to the rim of the Grand Canyon by helicopter. The 34-year-old river guide was reported missing by members of his river trip on September 12 when he didn’t return to camp after visiting a neighboring river camp.

The National Park Service conducted a multi-day search-and-rescue operation. The Coconino County medical examiner will confirm the identification, and is working on an investigation with the Park Service.
