Brewer vetoes militia bill
April 17, 2013
Governor Jan Brewer has vetoed a bill that would have removed the age limit of 45 for serving in the state militia.
The militia is a provision in the state constitution, but as Brewer noted in her veto letter, it has never been established or funded.
Brewer said she is concerned the bill would amend a statute that also covers the Arizona National Guard, and that she wants the state guard and any militia to meet National Guard standards.
