People like the Yazidis, Coptic Christians, and Assyrians, who have survived persecution over the centuries and are now threatened by ISIS, other Islamists or civil war. These ancient religions offer many clues about the past.
Thomas Approved For $750,000 In Clean Elections Funding
Former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas has been granted nearly $754,000 in public funds for his effort to win the Republican nomination for Arizona governor.
Thomas originally fell short of the required number of qualifying contributions to win funding from the Citizens Clean Election Commission. But he filed additional $5 contributions this week and was notified by the Secretary of State's office Thursday that he met the 4,500 contribution requirement.
Thomas lost his law license in 2012 because of failed corruption investigations that he and county Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched against political opponents.
He is one of six Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for governor in the Aug. 26 primary. State Sen. Al Melvin dropped out Monday after failing to win public funding.
