A 2016 Maricopa County primary election ballot.

March’s Presidential Preference Election left a bad taste in the mouths of many voters, especially those who waited in line for hours to cast their ballots. Now some voters are concerned there could be problems ahead of the Aug. 30 Primary Election.

Thousands of voters have received two ballots in the mail. But Elizabeth Bartholomew with the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office says that’s not a mistake, and its nothing new.

With more than a million people on the permanent early voter list, Bartholomew says they have to get those names to their printer by July 9.

"If you had changed your political party or address anytime from the date we sent it to the vendor, which was July 9, to the close of registration, quite possible you received two ballots," she said. "And just for an example in the month of July alone, we had 13,000 party changes."

Bartholomew says if voters are unsure about which ballot to use, look at the number printed below the bar code on the envelope. It ends in either an '01' or an '02.' She says to use the one ending in '02.'
