Even before Detroit's bankruptcy, there was an "Us vs. Them" attitude between the city and its suburbs.
Governor to legislature: please slow down
The Speaker of the Arizona House Andy Tobin says lawmakers are on target for wrapping up their session, but he's willing to put on the brakes to give Governor Jan Brewer a break.
“The governor has asked us to please slow down,” Tobin said. “We want to respect her place. She has got priority issues too, she didn’t want all of the bills coming up and falling on top of her all at once and I agree with her. That’s not fair to do to her.”
Tobin says variables like sequestration are proving a hindrance to putting the state budget together. The House and Senate recently conducted marathon sessions, passing high volumes of legislation in one day.
