Tucson mail to be directed through Phoenix sooner
Mail heading for Tucson will be processed in Phoenix starting this year. The U.S. Postal Service originally planned on the change next year, but moved up the date, as part of a its plan to save money. The Arizona Daily Star reports, the Tucson Processing Center is one of 54 sites being consolidated sooner than expected. A postal service official says, 146 employees will be reassigned.
