Report: One out of six Arizona teens use tobacco products
New research from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids finds it's getting tougher to keep kids away from tobacco, and the Centers for Disease Control say more than one in six Arizona teens either smokes or chews tobacco products. Danny McGoldrick of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids says some companies have added tobacco to their cigarette paper or wrapper, which qualifies it as a cigar, skirting federal rules and targeting a younger audience.
“We have this plethora of new cigarettes disguised as cigars: peach, vanilla or strawberry flavored little cigars that are 99 cents or less for two of them and are clearly meant to appeal to kids,” McGoldrick said.
