Navajo Nation peaks interest of uranium mining companies, again
Uranium mining companies are showing renewed interest in the Navajo Nation. The Farmington Daily Times reports several companies have begged the Tribe for permission to once again mine the uranium-rich land it sits upon. But several environmental studies have suggested elevated levels of uranium in and around the mines caused health problems for the people working in and living around them. Uranium mining companies say history will not repeat itself, because they're using advanced technologies and greater precaution.
