High and low temperatures from June 20, 2016 at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

The phrase, "It's hot" is beginning to feel like a huge understatement. Even with the sun down, Phoenix is getting little relief from the extreme temperatures.

Mark O’Malley with the National Weather Service said overnight lows never reached below 90 degrees at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Monday.

“While that happens every year...this will be the earliest in the calendar year that this has occurred where we didn’t go below 90,” O’Malley said.

Sunday's recorded high at Sky Harbor was 118 degrees. It tied for the fifth hottest day ever recorded in the city.
