Las Vegas cab strike might impact your getaway

March 01, 2013

Visitors to Las Vegas this weekend may be taking a gamble outside the casinos. The drivers for one of the largest cab companies in Vegas have authorized a strike at midnight Sunday. If it happens more than 1,700 cabbies could be parking their cars.

There’s a number of taxi companies, so there will be taxis available and on the street. What kind of impact obviously we don’t know yet. We’ll have to wait and see how that comes through," said spokesman Jeremy Handel of the Las Vegas Tourism and Convention Bureau.

Drivers have been working under a contract extension since last year when the original agreement expired.
