Arizona’s utility regulators are looking into adopting a code of ethics.

The Arizona Corporation Commission has dealt with its fair share of ethics concerns recently. There are questions about utility companies funneling dark money into commission races, allegations of conflict of interest violations, and the FBI interviewed a former commissioner.

While the commission is already subject to state law regarding campaign finance or accepting gifts, Commissioner Tom Forese said it should have a code that reinforces those rules and spells out best practices.

In the coming months, commissioners will look into how they can fashion a code that goes “above the minimum standards set by statute.”
