The Slide Fire was human-caused. And according to the National Interagency Fire Center, people are responsible for more than 62,000 fires every year.

It’s against that backdrop that several agencies in Arizona—including the state department of transportation, Bureau of Land Management, and National Park Service—are teaming up for the One Less Spark, One Less Wildfire campaign.

ADOT Spokesman Doug Nintzel says the focus is on what drivers can do to prevent fires.
