Living on a golf course in Scottsdale is prime real estate — and a pair of bald eagles has made a nest for their family of two new eaglets in a tree at a private course in the city.

Lynda Lambert, with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, said the nest location is unusual for the bird. She said by nature, eagles are solitary animals that nest on river banks and away from urban areas.

“This pair though has taken up residence in a high traffic area where we’ve got both cars and people constantly. And they don’t seem disturbed. So they are just very unique in the fact that they are so tolerant,” Lambert said.

The eagles are expected to leave their nest in the next four to six weeks.

Lambert said biologists are working with the golf course to make sure the eagles remain protected. It’s illegal to disturb a Gold or Bald Eagle under state and federal law.
