On the heels of one of the most exciting title games in history Monday night in Houston, the NCAA Men’s Final Four continues to head west toward Arizona next year.

Glendale’s University of Phoenix Stadium will be the site for the final events of March Madness in 2017, marking the first time the region has ever hosted college basketball’s marquee event.

It’s also the first time the games will be out West in more than 20 years.

Dawn Rogers is executive director of the Phoenix NCAA Basketball Final Four. She said that was a hot topic in Texas this week.

“The membership is really eager to come west, and so we’re happy now that we have a facility that can hold the event and we have the infrastructure and we have the ability to hold these events so well in this region,” Rogers said.

University of Phoenix Stadium is one of only 10 venues around the country that meets the NCAA criteria to host the the men’s Final Four. The games take place April 1 and 3 in 2017.
