A suspicious package shut down a security check point at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for about an hour Monday morning.

Security Check Point A in Terminal Four was forced to be evacuated while TSA and the Phoenix Police Department were called in to investigate.

Phoenix Police Seargent Trent Crump said TSA detained a passenger with an object in their carry-on bag classified as suspicious.

“It was enough to raise the suspicion of the TSA agents who brought in some additional law enforcement resources that concurred that,” Crump said.

The bag was later moved to a safe zone by police and was cleared. The checkpoint was shut down for about an hour and only caused some delays for American Airlines customers.
