Michael Phelps announced his comeback at the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa, Arizona.

The most decorated Olympic swimmer is coming back from retirement. Michael Phelps made the announcement Wednesday in Mesa at the Arena Grand Prix. Phelps says he is returning to swimming for fun.

“I am doing this for me. If I don’t become as successful as you all think I would be or should be and you think it tarnishes my career then that’s your own opinion. I’m doing this because I want to come back and I enjoy being in the pool and I enjoy being in the sport of swimming," said Phelps.

He is scheduled to swim the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly at the meet. Phelps said he will be at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro whether in the pool or in the stands.
