The U.S. Census Bureau wrapped up its mid-decade census and one Arizona city is showing an impressive increase.

Early numbers show there was a 15 percent increase in the city of Goodyear’s population in just five years.

Census data from 2010 puts the city’s population just above 65,000. According to the recent census, the city has more than 75,000 residents.

Goodyear opted to take part in the mid-decade census, which began in October, in an effort to gain more state-shared revenue based on city population. The new number means the city can potentially receive an additional of $1.45 million dollars from state funds annually for the next five years.
