Arizona cities among safest for drivers
Drivers in several Arizona cities are considered among the safest in the country, according to a new report. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie has more.
MARK BRODIE: Allstate Insurance Company’s annual “Best Drivers Report” lists Phoenix as the safest city with more than a million residents. This is the eighth straight year that’s been the case. Overall, Chandler was the seventh-safest city in the country, and four other Arizonan cities came in the top 40 – Tucson, Gilbert, Tempe and Scottsdale. Phoenix was number 53 overall. The report compiles data from 200 cities around the country, and looks at factors including the average number of years between collisions and likelihood of having a collision in a city relative to the national average. Sioux Falls, S.D., was the safest city in the country, while Washington, D.C. was the least safe on the list.
