Democratic Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema has made it official. She will not run in District 7 to replace retiring Congressman Ed Pastor.

Latino community leaders publically implored Sinema this week to stay put in District 9. They worried she would make a bid for the more solidly democratic District 7 to ensure her seat in Congress.

Three days later, Sinema broke her silence with a post to her Facebook page. Sinema said she will stay where she is. The statement says she is flattered some former neighbors and friends asked her to consider running in a different district, but she says there is more to be done in her current district on behalf of the middle class.

This only clears up some of the buzz surrounding the future of District 7. A handful of Latino candidates have already said they plan to run when Congressman Pastor retires later this year.
