Arizona Gas Prices Soaring, But Still Lower Than Last Year
Arizona gas prices are soaring, according to AAA. Spokeswoman Michelle Donati says the statewide average was up more than 4.5 cents this week to $3.32 a gallon, while the national average price was up more than a nickel to $3.44 a gallon.
But Donati says the price is still a bargain compared to what Arizona drivers were paying a year ago.
“Seems like prices have climbed so much,” Donati said. “They’ve increased by almost a dime over the last month, however, if you can remember back to this time last year, we were experiencing a lot more pain at the pump in 2013 than we are in 2014.”
She says the current average price is 41 cents less than what Arizonans were paying at the pump at this time last year.
Tucson continues to have the state’s lowest prices at $3.24 a gallon, while Flagstaff drivers are paying the most at $3.46.
