Three years after the earthquake and tsunami in Fukushima, Japan destroyed a nuclear power plant, the effects are still being measured.
Phoenix Boy Dies After Drowning In Backyard Pool
PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix firefighters said a 3-year-old boy pulled from a backyard swimming pool has died.
Capt. Jonathan Jacobson said family members at a home near 64th Street and Camelback Road discovered the child in the pool Sunday morning. A family member performed CPR until emergency responders arrived. Jacobson said he was then taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Authorities said there were multiple adults and children in the home at the time. They said the boy's family was visiting and had spent the night at the home, which had no barriers around the pool.
Jacobson said this is the first drowning incident in Phoenix this year involving a child under the age of 5.
