It will be a little cooler on Thursday as a cold front moves through and temperatures near the 30-year average, but meteorologist Mark O’Malley said there is still no precipitation in the forecast and the mercury will start rising by the weekend.

“We’re currently under a persistent weather pattern that’s high pressure’s in control over the Southwest, and until we change the pattern and get some sort of storm system down here we will remain warm," O'Malley said.

O’Malley said Phoenix has had two months without rain, but that we frequently get over 100 days without rainfall and the record is more than 140 days. He said there is no sign that the pattern will change over the next week.
