Vinyl record sales are up 52 percent and have out-performed free music streaming services, according to the Record Industry Association of America. 

“If you really appreciate music, they should own that music and they should own it in a way that the musicians appreciate,” said Dario Miranda, of Stinkweeds record store in central Phoenix. “You’re going to want to own the vinyl and have a good system to listen to that on. I think that trend is catching on.” 

A 2012 market research report found vinyl record owners are three times more likely to use a paid music streaming service than people who don’t listen to vinyl. Miranda said this love of vinyl is just one indication that fans will support their favorite artists on multiple platforms.
