Boy, 7, Dies After Being Hit By Truck In Phoenix
PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix police say a 7-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a truck while out riding a scooter.
Police said the boy was struck at 1:30 p.m. Sunday near 17th Street and Pueblo Avenue. They said he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said the boy was not wearing a helmet while going east on Pueblo Avenue. They say the 67-year-old driver was heading north on 17th street at a slow speed but did not see the boy.
Police spokesman James Holmes said the boy and his family were visiting relatives in Phoenix. Holmes said the driver is cooperating with investigators, and both roads will be closed for several hours.
They have not released the boy's name.
