Even before Detroit's bankruptcy, there was an "Us vs. Them" attitude between the city and its suburbs.
Copper Wire Gone From Light Poles Off I-17
CORDES LAKES, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities are working to track down copper wire that is missing from more than 20 light poles near Cordes Lakes.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's office said the wire likely was stolen late last week. It is valued at nearly $14,000.
State Department of Transportation employees told sheriff's deputies that the lights off Interstate 17 were working on Feb. 6. They later returned to the area in response to a storm watch and discovered the wire was gone.
Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said whoever took it removed the lid to a box revealing conduit and pulled out thousands of feet of wire. Authorities are asking anyone with information on the theft to contact the sheriff's office.
