The Centers for Disease Control and the Arizona Department of Health Services are urging people to get the flu vaccine now.

There have already been two confirmed cases in the past two weeks and 37 cases have been confirmed since June.

DHS director Doctor Cara Christ said flu kills anywhere between 3,000 and 20,000 people each year.

"There is more flu and flu is more highly contagious than Ebola. I am more scared of getting influenza and my children getting influenza that I am of ever coming into contact with Ebola," Christ said.

Christ said this year’s vaccine is looking like a “great” match to the strains currently circulating.

However, that isn’t always a guarantee. Last year’s vaccine provided minimal protection after a mutated strain started spreading.
