The Arizona Cardinals won their final pre-season game beating the Broncos in Denver 22-20.

But they did so without the NFL's first female coaching intern on the sidelines as she had been for the team's first three exhibition games.

The Cardinals this week confirmed that Dr. Jen Welter’s six week internship is over.

In a Tweet issued on Wednesday, Welter said she quote “loved every minute” of her brief tenure, and thanked head coach Bruce Arians for the opportunity.

NFL internships rarely lead to full-time coaching jobs, but Welter had gotten rave reviews from players and fellow coaches alike for her work with the team’s inside linebackers.

Active on social media, she retweeted a comment requesting the Cardinals hire her full time.

The 37-year-old Welter, who has a doctorate in psychology and previously played women’s professional football, told the Associated Press that she “showed something to the world,” adding she’d love to stay in the game and may “entertain other teams.”
