TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A University of Arizona Police Department sergeant has been arrested after crashing a department vehicle while on duty.

The Arizona Daily Star reported Tucson police cited and released 27-year-old Sgt. John McGrath on Saturday night for DUI and other charges. Sgt. Pete Dugan said McGrath crashed the marked SUV into a traffic sign and then struck a cement wall on an Interstate 10 frontage road, near Speedway Boulevard. Dugan said no one was injured.

Authorities said McGrath is accused of several offenses including super extreme DUI, having a blood alcohol content of .20 or greater and criminal damage. A UA police spokesman said McGrath has been with the department since 2009 and returned a month ago from serving in Afghanistan with the Army Air National Guard.
