A Little More Bipartisanship In The State Capitol?
As lawmakers return to the state capitol Monday, there are indications the partisanship of the past may not be as evident this year.
Speaker of the House Andy Tobin and House Minority Leader Chad Campbell say they’re finding consensus on some polarizing issues in the budget. Campbell says one of those issues is education.
“I think that we have to look at education from top to bottom, terms of funding and probably some more reforms,” Campbell said. “K-12 is going to get some more money because of the court’s decisions with inflation funding and hopefully we come together on the governor’s plan.”
Campbell says he feels good about the governor’s K-12 education plan but thinks it’s time to take higher education off the back burner. Campbell wants to address problems like rising tuition and massive student debt.
