Half a million people who bought a cactus-based drink from a Scottsdale company will soon be getting checks in the mail. This comes after a lawsuit alleging that the company Trivita touted bogus health claims.

Now, federal authorities said they are sending $3 million in checks to people who bought the drink Nopalea, derived from the nopal cactus.

The Federal Trade Commission alleges that Trivita made false claims that the drink would relieve pain, reduce inflammation and improving breathing.

The check amounts vary per customer based on how much they spent on the product.

Trivita sold the 32-ounce bottles for up to $40, plus shipping and handling. Nopalea is still available on the company’s website.
