PHOENIX — Memorial services are scheduled this week in Nogales, Tucson and Phoenix to celebrate the life of former Gov. Raul Castro, Arizona's only Hispanic governor.

Castro died April 10 at age 98. He was an ambassador in three Latin American countries before and after he served as governor for 2½ years in the mid-1970s.

Castro family spokesman James E. Garcia says memorial masses will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nogales and 2 p.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral in Tucson.

A funeral mass is scheduled 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Basilica in Phoenix, followed by a memorial service hosted by Gov. Doug Ducey at 11 a.m. Saturday at the State Capitol.
