Even before Detroit's bankruptcy, there was an "Us vs. Them" attitude between the city and its suburbs.
Compensation Claims Pile Up In Deadly Arizona Fire
PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Compensation claims against the state, Yavapai County and the city of Prescott in connection with the deadly Yarnell Hill fire last summer continue to pile up.
According to the Daily Courier, eight additional claims were filed Tuesday on behalf on property owners in Yarnell, the rural community where more than 100 homes were destroyed. The claims are precursors to possible lawsuits, and a law firm has now filed a total of 23 claims on behalf of Yarnell property owners.
The latest claims seek $40.5 million. The previous claims by property owners asked for a total of $59 million.
There is also a claim by the mother of a firefighter who perished when his Prescott crew was overtaken by the fire. That claim seeks $48 million.
