New commercial terminal planned for Grand Canyon Airport
Tourists from across the country may have easier access to the Grand Canyon in the next several years. KJZZ’s Al Macias reports.
AL MACIAS: Right now most of the traffic at Grand Canyon Airport comes from small charters planes and helicopters. Last year daily 737 airline service began from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Now the Arizona Department of Transportation is planning a new terminal that will support major airlines flying in from other airports in the country. ADOT operates the airport. It is currently conducting an environmental assessment of the plans. ADOT hopes to have the terminal and other work completed in the next three to five years.
