ADOT is planning a major widening project on the Broadway Curve section of Interstate 10, which is one of the busiest stretches of freeway in Arizona.

The deadline to comment on an environmental assessment of the project is Nov. 18. The assessment examines the potential environmental impacts of the project, which covers 11 miles of I-10 between the I-17 “Split” and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway.

I-10 would be widened to six general-purpose lanes and two HOV lanes between the Salt River Bridge and US 60.

Other improvements include modifying ramps, adding pedestrian bridges, and building what’s known as a collector-distributor road for drivers traveling a short distance.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2021 and could take four years to complete.
