With a single device, reporters and ordinary teens now have the power to make their stories heard around the globe-- instantly. That was considered science fiction just a few decades ago.
91.5 KJZZ and its Youth Media Center SPOT 127 are collaborating with Rio Salado College and the Arizona SciTech Festival to host a conversation with teens about the magical world of digital media in news and the role it’s playing in their lives.
Reaching the Digital Generation with News and Information will inlcude discusstions about - The latest digital media technologies SPOT 127 teen reporters use to access news and information and produce their stories.
- How news organizations are meeting the demands of teens.
- The technological challenges newsrooms face and how they distribute content across multiple platforms.
- The opportunities and challenges of social media.
- The storytelling techniques and journalism ethical standards teen reporters follow.
- The dangers that exist in digital media and cyberspace and how to avoid them.
- How all teens can apply and benefit from SPOT127 strategies as they venture into digital media to tell their own stories.
SPOT 127 Director Greg Pereira will moderate the discussion, which will include a panel comprised by KJZZ IT Director Rick Gould, KJZZ Digital Media Editor Tracy Greer and SPOT 127 teen reporters from Trevor Brown High School, Nicole Gutierrez Montes and Gabriel Gamino.
