Governor Jan Brewer has signed a bill that will provide more money for Child Protective Services. Lawmakers have also approved a measure to send money to Arizona’s Redistricting Commission. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie reports.

MARK BRODIE: CPS will get $4.4 million, to hire 50 new workers right away. Governor Jan Brewer had made the request in her budget proposal. She’s also asking for close to $19 million to hire 150 more CPS workers in the next fiscal year. Both the house and senate unanimously approved the bill, with bipartisan support. The chambers also approved sending the IRC $500,000, to help pay its legal bills. That amount is less than the commission had requested, and the measure did not enjoy the unanimous support of the CPS bill – nine GOP representatives voted against it, while three Republican Senators did the same.
