Proposal Seeks To Modernize Campgrounds At Arizona National Parks
Upgraded campgrounds could be coming to Arizona’s National Parks. There’s a new effort to modernize those areas with food trucks, Wi-Fi and hot showers.
The Interior Department is recommending updating those grounds because the current ones don’t always meet visitor expectations.
The Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee wants private businesses to operate on public lands.
A committee spokesman said allowing the private sector to run the campgrounds would free up money for other park maintenance.
But some environmentalists say the proposal could price out some visitors and benefit special interest groups.
