Charles McPherson

Born in Joplin Missouri and raised in Detroit, Charles McPherson was a disciple of Charlie Parker but added his own sound to the bebop language. His sax can be heard on the film "Bird" and on recordings with Charles Mingus. Dig the sound and spirit of Charles McPherson Monday night on the 9 O'clock Special on K-Jazz.
