The film "Avengers: Endgame" passed "Avatar" earlier this year to become the highest-grossing movie of all time with nearly $3 billion in sales. Four of the top 10 films had their direct origins from the comic book world, and with that genre creating as close to a financial guarantee as studios can get, we’ll be seeing more characters making the leap from page to screen.

But as the better-known characters like Batman and Spider-Man are already part of the two biggest comic companies DC and Marvel, producers are looking for other options. Image Comics is often where they’re turning.

The Valley’s Todd McFarlane — who also owns a huge toy company and has spent millions on some of the most well-known baseball cards — is the co-founder of Image. His creation "Spawn" just became a Guinness record-holder when its 301st issue went to press, and McFarlane is working on turning Spawn into a major motion picture that he would direct.

He sat down with The Show to talk about how he juggles all his creative roles.
