A state trooper has been arrested on charges of sexual abuse and kidnapping, among other offenses.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says Tremaine Jackson worked in the agency for 13 years.

After receiving a complaint about Jackson in June accusing the trooper of sexually assaulting a woman during a traffic stop, the department launched an investigation which has so far identified eight additional victims.

DPS Director Frank Milstead said the department regrets what he called "the reprehensible acts perpetrated by Jackson" saying he had broken all trust with the community and the department.

Milstead said they are continuing to investigate.

In the meantime, Jackson will be booked into the Maricopa County jail on multiple felony charges including sexual abuse, sexual extortion, kidnapping and harassment.
