Rain approaches from the east Valley.

The Valley is drenched. More than an inch and half of rain fell by Friday afternoon alone.

Chandler spokesperson Jim Phipps said city crews worked Friday morning to move water out of overflow basins along the roadway to make room for more rain. Phipps said the crews are using pumps to redistribute the water.

Into an agriculture area that’s nearby that we can or just vacant land we can just put the water onto,” said Phipps.

Parts of the Loop 303 were closed for most of Friday. The rainfall postponed state semifinal high school football games scheduled for Friday and Saturday, and more than three inches of snow fell in Flagstaff.

The National Weather Service said the rain will most likely continue into Saturday.
