The Show regularly checks in with Editorial Board of the Arizona Republic to talk about the big issues facing the state and the region — featured in the newspaper’s Viewpoints section.

We’re changing it up a bit this week as we focus on a historic houseboat vacation that may have played at least a small part in raising the profile of future U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

The story was told recently in the Arizona Republic by former state Sen. Adam Driggs, who joined his family and the O’Connors — and then Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger — on the 1979 getaway.

Phil Boas, editorial director of the Arizona Republic, joined The Show for his weekly appearance to talk about the tale.
