Arizona Sen. Martha McSally has a challenger in the upcoming Republican primaries for an Arizona U.S. Senate seat.

Ann Griffin told a crowd this week the Republican Party is not the party she signed up for in the 1970s.

The Flagstaff public school teacher said she has more moderate views than McSally on social issues. Griffin also said current GOP leaders are catering to the wealthiest one percent, which she believes has compromised the federal budget.

“I think that we are in some deep, deep trouble financially,” she warned, “and people are just looking away because it’s uncomfortable to look at.  In my life, when something’s wrong and you ignore it as if it’s not there, it generally gets worse.”

Griffin has a master’s degree in public administration, she has managed local political campaigns and owns a family counseling business.

With limited resources, she said her campaign is starting at her kitchen table and through social media with messages of how she hopes to win the Republican primary.
