The Glendale Public Library system may be downsizing. The Foothills Library in Glendale could be sold for $5 million to Midwestern University.

The library would be relocated to a smaller location one third of the current size. Librarian Michael Beck said that this location change is allowing them to move forward with current library trends. Books are down while electronic circulation is up.

"More and more resources are becoming online," Beck said. "Almost every year there’s at least some new digital or electronic service or vendor that is being provided. If the sale was to be approved from council, they would get all brand new equipment. Currently Foothills has 38 computers, they would go to 60 that would have the latest and greatest technology and software capabilities as well as laptops and tablets."

The library is still gathering feedback from the people of Glendale which will be presented to the city council for further review.
