There’s No Place Like SPOT 127.0.0.1
What do KJZZ, Rio Salado College, Phoenix Union High School, The Carstens Family Fund, Friends of Public Radio Arizona, FITCH and Valley youth have in common?
It’s called SPOT 127.0.0.1—that’s Internet code for “home” and the name of KJZZ’s new youth media center. It’s an after-school program designed to train and mentor the next generation of public broadcasters. (read more)

The first question everyone asks me when they find out I’m from out of state is, “How are you handling the heat?” The answer is, quite well! Coming from triple digit temps and high humidity in Arkansas, Arizona’s dry heat seems quite bearable. Ralph Hogan Elected SBE Board President
The Society of Broadcast Engineers, Inc. elected KJZZ’s Director of Engineering, Ralph Hogan as its new board president last month. The SBE board is responsible for the development of policy and determines the programs and services the society provides to its more than 5,100 members in 115 chapters across the United States and Hong Kong.
SBE offers the largest and most recognized certification program for broadcast engineers, operators and technicians, with more than 5,000 certifications currently active and an ever-growing list of educational offerings. | Wishing Well
You may have noticed that Classic Jazz host Paul Anderson has been absent in the last month. Paul has been under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospital staff since his emergency admittance on Aug. 23. While he’s slowly recovering, it’s likely Paul won’t be back for quite some time.
