Trumpeter Eddie Henderson, who began his career with the San Francisco orchestra,  played with Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, and groove master Charles Earland.  As a teen when he met Miles Davis he corrected his trumpet technique!  When he wasn't  playing with jazz greats or leading his own band, he worked as a physician for 10 years.  He said that music helped pay his way through medical school.   His own music has groove and melody and plenty of trumpet chops.  Learn more about this fascinating artist tonight on the 9 O'clock Special.
