Air traffic controllers at Phoenix Sky Harbor have begun their mandated furloughs. The cutbacks are required under sequestration, which is forcing across-the-board budget cuts at federal agencies. 

The major tenant at the Goodyear Airport says shutting down the control tower, under the sequester budget cuts, could force it to go elsewhere to train pilots.

One of the busier airports in the country is throwing conventional food wisdom out the window. You can still get a McDonald’s Big Mac or a Starbucks' Frappucino at Sky Harbor in Phoenix, but the airport is in the midst of a major upgrade that will bring local restaurants into a space that is typically reserved for mega-corporate chains.

The East Coast is struggling to deal with the effects of Hurricane Sandy. And one of the major impacts has involved air transportation. Airports are closed, flights being canceled throughout the northeast.

A passenger train made its debut today at Sky Harbor Airport. Sky Train, as its called, should begin moving passengers to and from Terminal Four by early next year. 

Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport officials unveiled an expansion plan Monday that would allow the airport to increase its passenger load to three million by 2017.
